An appropriate location
A modern centre will require a high-profile building capable of housing both its visitor attractions and its archive, conservation and educational capacity. Through the generosity of the City of Edinburgh Council the SNPC has identified the former Royal High School on Calton Hill in Edinburgh as an appropriate place for such a centre, which may be converted to serve two purposes: to provide Scotland with a notable centre of visual excitement, through the many and best aspects of photography; and to restore a magnificent neo-classical building as a critical landmark and visitor focus.
